MasterDrive’s Women in Transport
This week MasterDrive is hosting their annual Women in Transport event in honour of Transport Month 2019. Thursday will mark the third year the event is taking place. There was an overwhelming response this year and excitement is building.
MasterDrive uses the opportunity Transport Month presents to honour the ladies that work in the industry. The managing director of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, explains: “Many transport month initiatives are similar in their objectives. We decided, three years ago, to take a different approach to the month and create a morning where we can honour the ladies in an industry that is often male-dominated and give our audience a chance to take something palpable away with them.
“We also use the event to bring awareness to initiatives that contribute to our society. This year Women in Transport 2019 is in support of the campaign, Truckers Unite Against Trafficking (TAUT). The campaign is the result of the Transport Sector Retirement Fund (TSRF) and Salt Employee Benefits (Salt EB) joining forces forces to help combat the fast-growing crime of human trafficking. It is a blight on our society and we hope to create additional awareness for this worthy campaign.”
The massive response to the event that MasterDrive received is testament to its success. “When we started the initiative, it was a struggle to pique the interest of guests. Now, the venue was filled to capacity within a few days. Previous attendees encouraged their colleagues to attend while other shared how the event better equipped them to handle some of the most challenging circumstances a person can face as a driver.
“It is with the support of the ladies on our panel discussion, including Hollard, Inspectacar, BeSafe, Avis Fleet, DHL, Cartrack, Funeral Car and MasterDrive that we can put on an event of this calibre. A number of other presenters are adding their contribution to the day as well including Dr Melanie Frazer, Dr Karen Horne, Skye Mendes, Dr Lee Randall, Mark Grobbelaar and Advocate Liechen Strydom.”
MasterDrive would like to thank every person and organisation that has played their role in this event.
