Citroën launches the all-new Basalt

Citroën launches the all-new Basalt
March 25, 2026 by Samantha Greathead

Citroën introduces the new Basalt in South Africa, an SUV-coupé that combines bold design, generous interior space and advanced comfort technologies. The Basalt becomes the third model sourced from India under Citroën’s C-Cubed programme, joining the C3 and Aircross to complete the local C-Cubed line-up.

Its design blends a confident SUV stance with coupé-inspired proportions, expressed through elevated ground clearance, a strong bonnet line and robust exterior detailing. A fastback-style roofline creates a distinctive silhouette and contributes to aerodynamic efficiency.

Interior space and comfort

The interior reflects Citroën’s people-focused approach to design, prioritising comfort, space and everyday usability. The cabin offers generous legroom for all occupants and a practical five-seat layout, complemented by a 470-litre boot that supports active lifestyles and family use.

A 10-inch Citroën Connect floating touchscreen with wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® is paired with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, creating a clean, uncluttered cockpit that keeps essential information within the driver’s natural line of sight.

Comfort-focused features include automatic air-conditioning with rear air vents, front and rear armrests, and height-adjustable front headrests, helping reduce fatigue on longer journeys. Together, these elements express Citroën’s Advanced Comfort philosophy, delivering a composed, relaxed driving experience and reinforcing the brand’s reputation for vehicles engineered to absorb the demands of everyday South African road conditions.
