Class-leading power in BAIC X55 PLUS Lifestyle

Class-leading power in BAIC X55 PLUS Lifestyle
March 4, 2026 by Samantha Greathead

Johannesburg, South Africa, February 2026 – In a compact lifestyle SUV segment full of safe choices, the BAIC X55 PLUS shows up differently: modern design, serious performance and cutting-edge tech, packaged with the confidence of a vehicle that’s built to stand out.

Following the introduction of the pre-facelift in 2022, the X55 PLUS has continued to earn attention as a contemporary SUV that feels ahead of its time, delivering a premium experience that competes beyond its price point.

Dynamic design that turns heads

The X55 PLUS balances sportiness with elegance through a bold colour range, a distinctive black grille design, striking LED daytime running lights and premium exterior detailing. Signature touches like inductive hidden door handles, a sleek black roof lining and 18–19-inch alloy wheels (model dependent) complete a look that doesn’t blend in.

From stylish comfort to cutting-edge technology

Step inside and the X55 PLUS makes its premium intent clear. Race-inspired bucket seats, customisable ambient lighting and a panoramic roof elevate every journey, while everyday tech keeps things effortless with smartphone connectivity, wireless charging and Type-C charging ports for both driver and passengers.

Top-class power & safety

At the heart of the X55 PLUS is BAIC’s Magic Core 1.5T engine paired with a responsive DCT transmission, producing 138 kW and approximately 305 Nm – strong output in a segment where many competitors sit lower on power. The result is sharper acceleration, confident overtaking and relaxed highway cruising, backed by competitive combined fuel consumption of approximately 7.0–7.7 L/100 km (cycle/spec dependent).

  • Around View Monitor (AVM)
  • ADAS features including Blind Spot Detection and Intelligent Cruise Assist (and more)

Strong value, backed by ownership confidence

The X55 PLUS range remains attractively priced from R429,900, reinforcing BAIC’s strength in performance, product and value. BAIC further supports ownership with a 5-year/150,000 km warranty and a 5-year/60,000 km service plan.

  • Beijing X55 Plus 1.5T Dynamic – R429,900
