Fleet Safety Awards 2026 entry deadline extended

Fleet Safety Awards 2026 entry deadline extended
September 10, 2026 by Samantha Greathead

Entrants preparing their submissions for the Fleet Safety Awards 2026 have some extra breathing room, with the extension of the closing date to 12 October 2026. This gives fleet managers and operators more time to compile an entry that reflects the strength of their organisation’s safety performance.

It provides vital additional time for entrants who have yet to start. Those already working on a submission can use the extra weeks to add detailed examples, measurable results and evidence of a sustained commitment to road safety. It will help you stand out to the judging panel as a leader in road safety.

At this year’s Fleet Safety Awards, winners can take home their share of more than R250 000 in cash prizes, along with several additional prizes. MasterDrive CEO, Eugene Herbert, says: “Beyond financial rewards, winning brings independent, judge verified recognition. Credibility is earned on stage, in front of the industry, cementing your place as a safety leader.

“Additionally, the Awards play an important role in the push for safer roads. The Fleet Safety Awards promote safer roads for everyone who uses them, not just the transport industry. Every entry helps raise the bar for the entire sector.”

At MasterDrive, the Fleet Safety Awards have always been about inclusion, recognition and giving every organisation and individual committed to safer roads a fair opportunity to participate. “Current geopolitical developments in the Northern Hemisphere have created additional pressures for South African transporters and fleet operators, affecting operational priorities and, in some cases, delayed planned entries.

“We understand that sometimes circumstances beyond our control get in the way. With this in mind, MasterDrive is providing additional time to submit entries and remove unnecessary pressure, providing everyone who wishes to participate a fair chance to enter.”

This additional ‘breathing space’ encourages those who are hesitant, distracted by operational demands or simply short of time to complete their entries. If circumstances hampered entering, this is your opportunity to have a fair chance to be part of the Fleet Safety Awards.

Entrants can enter multiple categories:

  • Best Fleet Manager: visionary leaders advancing safety procedures while fostering innovation with the highest cash prize
  • Best Organisation: companies exemplifying road safety excellence, with a cash prize to donate to a CSI initiative
  • Road Warrior: recognises professional drivers across all vehicle categories who demonstrate excellence in safe driving, with a cash prize
  • Most Improved Truck Stop: facilities that prioritise driver safety, well-being, and sustainable operations, with a cash prize to be contributed to an improvement project
  • Sustainability Leadership: organisations demonstrating outstanding environmental commitment while maintaining exemplary safety standards, winning a cash prize towards a sustainability initiative
  • Sustainability Innovation: companies providing innovative solutions that help achieve environmental goals

Bus industry professionals can enter equivalent categories:

  • Best Fleet Manager
  • Best Organisation
  • Road Warrior.

Entries can be submitted at https://fleetsafetyawards.co.za/site/ ahead of the amended deadline of 12 October 2026.
