Jetour T-series goes PHEV

Jetour T-series goes PHEV
April 16, 2026 by MasterTorque

Since entering the South African market in September 2024, Jetour has made a strong impact with the launch of the 5-seater Dashing and 7-seater X70 Plus, followed by the highly anticipated T-series last year, all powered by combustion engines.

Sales of the T-Series now exceed 4 587 within only six months, and the brand is now taking the bold next step by entering the plug-in hybrid (PHEV/ i-DM) space.

This week saw the official launch of the T-Series i-DM, more specifically the T1 i-DM & T2 i-DM, a new generation of plug-in hybrid SUVs designed for modern urban lifestyles that combine adventure capability, performance, efficiency and intelligent electric mobility.

“The introduction of our PHEV models is an important strategic step for Jetour as we continue to balance sustainable mobility with meaningful user value,” says Nic Campbell, Vice President of Jetour South Africa.

“From an environmental perspective, these vehicles help reduce carbon emissions, aligning with the global shift toward greener development. At the same time, in a market where energy costs continue to fluctuate, PHEVs offer real practical benefit by lowering fuel consumption and helping users reduce their day-to-day running costs”.

At the heart of the range is a sophisticated hybrid powertrain that delivers seamless acceleration and a refined driving experience, with an impressive combined output of up to 265 kW. Designed for both urban commutes and long-distance travel, the PHEV models offer a combined driving range of over 1 200 km, while also enabling pure electric driving for everyday use. This dual capability allows drivers to experience zero-emission city driving with the reassurance of extended range.

The T-Series i-DM has an intelligent energy management system which optimises performance and efficiency. Fast, flexible charging further enhances the appeal of this PHEV range, with rapid DC charging enabling a 30–80% recharge in under 30 minutes, and ultra-low fuel consumption from just 1.1L/100 km.

Building on the bold, boxy appeal of the Jetour T1 and T2, the new PHEV range carries this design forward. It features striking, modern SUV styling with a distinctive rugged edge, complemented by signature lighting elements, premium wheel designs, and a panoramic glass sunroof.

Synonymous with world-class technology, Jetour delivers a premium, tech-forward cabin experience. The interior features expansive dual-screen displays with seamless connectivity, wireless charging, and ambient lighting to enhance comfort, alongside a high-end audio system and advanced infotainment for a truly connected drive.

Andy Yuan from Jetour Auto, unpacked why the brand remains committed to their “Travel+” strategy. “Travel+, for us at Jetour, is rooted in the belief that travel carries warmth and emotion. It reflects our desire for adventure, the comfort of journeys shared with family, and the freedom to explore on our own.

“At its core, it’s about connecting our products with your lifestyle, through vehicles that prioritise spacious comfort and intelligent technology, supported by a user-focused ecosystem of services and solutions designed around real travel needs.”

With the introduction of Jetour’s new PHEV models, this Travel+ philosophy is further brought to life through intelligent electrification, ensuring every journey is not only more sustainable, but also more connected, versatile and aligned with the way people live and travel today.

From initial monthly sales over 400 units in 2024 to over 1 700 units now, Jetour South Africa has achieved rapid and remarkable success. “This is not just a number, it reflects the strong support from all our partners here, including dealers, banks, logistics providers, and media, and it is also the best testament to South African consumers’ trust in and love for Jetour,” says Yuan.

Jetour’s local and global journey continues to accelerate, earning growing recognition, as the same passion for its vehicles is now elevated through an intelligent hybrid system that seamlessly integrates petrol and electric power for a more efficient, versatile and refined driving experience.

“i-DM technology brings together the best of both worlds: electric efficiency for everyday commuting and fuel-powered confidence for longer journeys. We believe this makes it an especially well-suited solution for the South African market,” says Campbell.

The T-Series i-DM are now available at over 55 dealerships countrywide, and are priced from R 689 900 for the T1 i-DM and from R 779 900 for the T2 i-DM .
