The global economic impact of the Iran-Israel-US conflict is being felt in South Africa too: at the fuel pump, on the roads, and in the budget lines of every fleet manager trying to do more with less. We see it. We understand it – and we want you to know: MasterDrive is not stepping back.
For 27 years MasterDrive has walked alongside South African fleets through fuel crises, economic downturns, and various operational pressures. The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says: “This moment is no different from any challenge faced before.
“We carefully considered the effect on our clients and developed three concrete ways in which we are standing with you right now. These are all created with the goal of providing relief from the new challenges that South African fleets now face,” says Herbert.
- Retained training prices
Each year, training costs are reviewed and, where necessary, adjusted to account for inflation and operational pressures. Ordinarily, this time of year is when potential price increases would be introduced.
Effective immediately, MasterDrive is placing a halt on all training price increases for at least the next three months. “Fees will stay exactly as they are. Consequently, rates that were budgeted for previously will remain the same on your invoice.
“In a climate where every budget line is under scrutiny, sacrificing on training costs is an expense no organisation, that is committed to road safety and the wellbeing of employees, can sacrifice. The consequences of this far outreach any potential savings. MasterDrive is ensuring your training investment is one less thing to renegotiate,” says Herbert.
- Absorbed travel cost increases
As fuel prices climb in response to global instability, MasterDrive anticipates a significant increase in the costs to our fleet. “We are not passing this on to you and will absorb the travel cost increases internally. The burden of a higher-cost operating environment on fleets is ours to carry, and we choose to carry it,” says Herbert.
- Fuel savings – standard
In addition to providing relief from expected increases, MasterDrive will also equip your fleet drivers to do their part in saving costs. “In every defensive driver training session practical guidance on fuel-efficient driving behaviour is integrated. Not as a separate session or an added-on workshop but as a standard part of the training.
“Ultimately, much of what makes a driver safer is also what makes a driver more economical. Currently, it carries a direct rand value. Thus, drivers leave not with just honed safety skills but with a clear understanding of how driving behaviour affects every litre in that tank,” says Herbert.
We are in this together
MasterDrive has never just been a training provider. “We are your safety partner, which includes carrying some of the weight alongside you. This too will pass, but until it does, we are with you,” says Herbert.
