Mrs Soweto contestants empowered

The contestants of Mrs Soweto 2025 were hosted by MasterDrive and Wesbank at a recent empowerment event. This year’s contestants had the opportunity to attend a road safety workshop as well as a hijack extraction demonstration. This will empower the ladies with the ability to have greater awareness and know what to do should the worst happen.

The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says it was a proud moment for the team to share advice on carjackings that have the potential to save lives. “MasterDrive spent a great deal of time developing a programme that helps drivers increase their awareness and equips them with the knowledge of what to do should someone be hijacked.

“As this knowledge can have a lasting impact on someone’s lives we undertake to never gatekeep the information. Instead, MasterDrive undertakes every opportunity to share these skills. Furthermore, we encourage every person that partakes in a hijack extraction demonstration to share the skills learnt with others.”

Tshegofatso Mathe, founder and CEO of the event, says it was an enlightening and empowering experience. “The knowledge shared is definitely something each of us are going to carry with us forever. We have already started sharing the information with our immediate family and friends and we will continue to do so and continue spreading the word.

“After the finale of Mrs Soweto later this month, irrespective of the results of each finalist, they will walk away enriched with the knowledge of how to be as safe as possible on the road. Our sincere gratitude goes out to MasterDrive and Wesbank for the calibre of the event that we had the opportunity to attend,” says Mathe.

MasterDrive wishes the Mrs Soweto contestants all the best as the finale approaches. “We were appreciative of the opportunity to engage with each contestant. These remarkable women exemplify leadership, determination, and an admirable community spirit.

“We trust the contestants will take what they have learnt with MasterDrive through the rest of their careers. Thank you for being inspirational leaders in our community. Wishing each finalist the best of luck at the upcoming final,” says Herbert.

In recognition of their achievements and to enhance their safety skills, MasterDrive presented each finalist with a special gift, including a complimentary defensive driving voucher. These vouchers will equip you with essential skills that complement the workshop’s theme of empowerment and safety.
