Volvo enhances EX30 experience

Volvo enhances EX30 experience
December 15, 2025 by MasterTorque

Volvo Car South Africa (VCSA) is pleased to announce the upcoming activation of in-car data connectivity for your EX30 electric vehicle. This enhanced connectivity service has officially been activated, delivering a seamless and reliable online experience to drivers across South Africa and Lesotho.

With built-in internet now fully enabled, Volvo EX30 owners can stay connected, informed, and in control wherever their journey takes them – without the need for external Wi-Fi routers or mobile hotspots. Volvo has granted all eligible vehicles a complimentary four-year connectivity package, valid from November 2025 through to November 2029.

In addition to the successful activation, all vehicles have also received the over-the-air (OTA) software update 1.7.1. This update, which installs in approximately 30-45 minutes, enhances vehicle performance and can be downloaded directly via the newly enabled in-car connectivity.

The update introduces several new features, including Android Auto, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) functionality when a towbar is connected, and three new parking modes: Relax Mode, Refresh Mode, and Range Mode. The software update enhances the day-to-day experience by ensuring maps remain online (network-dependent) and enabling new features to be deployed without requiring a workshop visit.

“We know how essential reliable connectivity is on South African roads, whether you’re travelling for work, family, or adventure,” says, Grant Locke, Managing Director of Volvo Car South Africa. “Bringing this service to our EX30 customers means greater convenience, greater peace of mind, and a driving experience that truly keeps up with everyday life.”

The rollout of in-car connectivity for the EX30 forms part of Volvo’s broader digital strategy and its transition toward a software-defined vehicle ecosystem. This includes providing a more integrated customer experience and introducing digital service booking through the Volvo app and the in-car browser, supported by remote diagnostics sent directly to dealers to improve service efficiency.

Future software updates will continue to leverage this connectivity. Real-time charging station data is already available through the Volvo app and Google Maps, including charger availability and capacity throughout. With full connectivity, the vehicle can plan long-distance routes, such as from Johannesburg to Cape Town, and optimise charging stops based on the performance of available chargers.
