The MasterDrive and PinkDrive event concluded on 24 October with a bang. The event aimed to bring attention to both transport month and breast cancer awareness. With the help of various presenters and the audience sharing about the event on social media, this is exactly what we achieved.
There were a number of presentations to honour transport month and help ladies keep themselves safe on the road. The event kicked off with a presentation from Namasha Padayachey from Toyota. They expressed their support for the initiative and the powerful difference it could make.
Clare Vale, the First Lady in Racing, spoke to us about some of her experiences on track and provided tips on what every lady should have in her car to stay safe on the roads. Derek Kirkby empowered the ladies with MasterDrive’s hijack extraction course. Mark Grobbelaar, from WomenInPowered, was also there to provide safety tips for ladies both on and off the road.
The event was also meant to pay special attention to women’s health. PinkDrive provided some valuable information on breast exams and one of their mobile clinics was present for ladies to educate themselves. A touching moment was had by all when a cancer survivor shared the harsh reality of cancer and how it does not discriminate, no matter your age.
Lauren Slade from Modern Eyes Optometrists shared some powerful information on looking after your eyesight especially as drivers. Attendees also had an opportunity to enjoy a presentation from well-known homeopath, Dr Karen Horne, who explained the important role of the adrenal gland in helping you live healthy lifestyles.
The day would not have been possible without support from various role-players. Bakwena Toll Concession supplied wonderful goodies bags and prizes which were handed out throughout the morning. Tiger Wheel and Tyre also supplied products for the goodie bags. Other prizes were also supplied by Matsimela Home Spa and PinkDrive. The ultimate prize of the day was a beautiful pair of breast cancer awareness sunglasses donated by Modern Eyes Optometrists.
MasterDrive would like to sincerely thank all attendees, presenters and every business which made donations to spoil the ladies. Special thanks goes to Toyota for their beautiful museum and auditorium as a venue and the refreshments. Together, we created an amazing opportunity to honour both transport and breast cancer awareness month.
